Associating files

I've just installed a LaCie 80gb portable HD (Highly recommended, quick, easy, quiet and self-powered thru' usb2)
I've copied Paintshop pro onto it but it still associates with the files on the built-in HD. How can I make the association without having to specifically open the files on the portable?
Thanks

Did you uninstall from the c drive first before installing on the ext drive? Or did you just move the program across? Iff the latter then there lies the problem.
Solution: uninstall from c drive and reinstall on the ext drive. Or, alter the settings in the registry if you feel confident in doing this.

I (and most others) always think that programs are best on the same drive as the O/S i.e. the "C" drive (normally). By all means store the results of your work elsewhere but you will save yourself a lot of problems (one of which you are experiencing now) by keeping to the recommended setup.
