ASPI manager not found, help

Hi Experts,
I have the first generation Philips DVDRW drive and need to flash it with the new firmware in order to be able to write on 4x DVDRW media w/o errors. The reason for this is that 2.4x are being phased out in the near future. In order to write 2.4 on 4x media I need to flash the drive. Downloaded, installed but when I started to flash it, dialogue box appears with the following message " ASPI Manager not found" and the prog. closes. Where can I find this blasted thing so that I can flash my drive? Thanks in advance.

Out of interest. What is ASPI and what does it do. My comp. is running perfectly seemingly w/o it. I just want to be able to flash my firmware.

Vog, thanks. The thing is I don't have any SCSI devices so why do I need it?
