ASDL Sharing -- Xover cable or router ?

PC1 win XP. PC2 Win 98se Want to network to share a freeserve broadband connection.

Can I use a direct cable connection ( Crossover) or do I need a router.

All that it means is that if you want to access the internet from the machine that doesn't have the modem attached to it the other computer will have to be on as well.

A router would get around this (so both computers can access the net even if the other isn't on) but if you aren't worried about leaving your main machine on then a crossover cable is the cheaper option.
