Oh come on mate, a few more details if you please as my crystal ball is knackered. We do try our best to help here but we do need to have as much information as we can get to make this possible.

Try right clicking the sound icon in the notification area and select playback devices. Once the pane opens connect the headphones. They should now show up in the list. Click on the headphones and make default.

The AS6920 is an old Acer laptop. Do you get sound via the built in speakers? Have you tried alternative headphones? Does the sound from the speakers mute when you insert a headphone jack?

Playback Devices fixed the problem. HEADPHONES does not show up in the list, only speakers, hdmi, and s/pdif. However, the jack started producing sound. I don't understand, but the problem is fixed. I hope I remember this next time the problem occurs.
