Are DVD recorders compatible with virgin cable tv

I receive my television reception from Virgin Media and do not want to get their v+ box as it would push my subscription costs up too high.
I have no reception to use freeview.

Would it be possible for me to buy a DVD recorder and record through the v box I currently have ?
If so any recommendations ? I have a budget of about £150 and as I say freeview would be a waste

Be surprised if you can buy a DVD recorder without a freeview tuner nowadays.

But make sure you get one that will record from the scart input.

you can then set the v box to the channel you require and record it via the DVD, I do this with an old DVD analogue recorder and a Freeview box for stuff I want to take "away" with me on business trips.

Yes just connect to Virgin box I have V+ box and have recorded from the hard drive via scart but can also be done via composite

I did'nt think the V+ box added to subsciption just to the installation cost.

I only have the v box - if I upgrade to the V+ it will cost me another £5 a month + a £75 installation fee ( because I am on M television)
