Applications cannot find downloads

Becoming tired of receiving constant nagging reminders from Microsoft to upgrade to IE6, I decided to take the plunge.
Since doing so however, everytime I attempt to downlad a file and open it, I am confronted with an error message 'Cannot Find File'
Looking at the Temporary Internet Files in My Computer, shows a huge number of files in the folder, however I have the 'Empty Temporary Internet Files when browser is closed' option ticket in Tools Advanced Security.

Any ideas gratefully received

When you download a file you should choose ware you want to save to not let programs save were they want

I usually do so if it is a file I need to keep, however under IE5 I could just take a quick look at a file which might be of transient interest without going through a formal save exercise, and cannot see why IE6 should not allow this
Thanks for the advice anyway
