Been given an XP PC to look at which displays this message when trying to open some programmes (varied - AVG, HP, and others). Google has been no help at all. Anyone experienced this before please?

P.S. Forgot to mention, tried scannow - running chkdsk at the moment.

I've not experienced this before but are the graphics drivers up to date. Are all the service packs installed?

Don't know if this may help Failed to initialise

Answer

Thanks for the suggestions - once chkdsk has finished I'll give them a go and report back.

Thanks - one of those seems to have done the trick.
