Application error - what does it mean?

  MichaelPaul 17:35 27 Nov 03

Under the heading 'MSIMN.exe Application Error' I get the following message on start-up:
The instruction at '0x77F5215e' referenced memory at '0x00984cb4'. The memory could not be 'written'.

Would somebody please tell me what this means - and if it could have any bearing on the fact that my (year-old) computer suddenly seems to be running slow: surely defragmentation (of a 60Gb hard drive of which ony a tenth is used) shouldn't take two hours?

Thanks in advance.

It is to do with Outlook Express.
You could do a repair on Internet Explorer which also covers Outlook Express.

The odd thing is that I have done nothing but read your responses (and the further information to which they referred) and the problem has gone away. Who said the age of miracles is dead?
