running vista on a laptop and last couple of days I can't get IE to start properly. I get this .................

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application name: iexplore.exe Application version: 9.0.8112.16421 Application time stamp: 4d76255d Fault module name: igdumdx32.dll Faul module version: Fault module time stamp: 4d558979 Exception code: c0000005 Exception offset: 00009754 OS Version: 6.0.6002. Locale ID: 2057 Additional information 1: 320d Additional information 2: 4edd9d66ee480f698f7a8471ff5bf4c7 Additional information 3: fb88 Additional information 4: 79a0529db8dfe57251a51521518a9816

This info is what I have noted now that I have upgraded to IE9. Had the same problem when still on IE8 (didn't make a note of the info then though) I thought that the upgrade might fix the problem ..... but no.

Chrome works fine on the same laptop. IE9 and chrome work fine on my Win7 laptop.

Thanks in advance,

Does this help? Try updating your graphics driver.

Hi and thanks.

Sorry its been a while

OK .........

I've ticked the box in Internet Properties-Advanced-Accelerated Graphics-Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering

And ..... IE now works!

So whats wrong and why did that fix just work? Can I get along ok with it set up as it now is? Do I need PU rendering?

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 procesor / 4GB memory / Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
