I'm soon to be getting an AOpen AK79D-400 Max to replace an old K7S5A. But I am a bit confused. Would I be able to run an Athlon 1700+, which is 266Mhz I think, with DDR400 (PC3200)? Or would I be forced to run the ram at 266 Mhz? I'm planning on getting 2 sticks of 512MB RAM at PC3200

the ram would slow down however might as well get the faster ram as if upgrade cpu in future no need to buy faster ram for socket a motherboard and plus over clocking possibilities as you ram can go a lot faster

Thanks - I hope there will be no problem with "underclocking" it. One last thing, the old mobo was running PC133 SDRAM, will i see an increase in performance?
