AOL Slow........Read this

am sorry to hear, you are experiencing slow AOL connection. It could be due to corrupted connectivity files, conflicting background programs or lack of free system resources or firewall or similar programs running in the PC, restricting the connection.

A.Open Internet explorer click on TOOLS menu on the top of the window.
Click on Internet Options.
Then click on SETTINGS tab.
Clcik on VIEW FILES.
Press CTRL A to highlight the files and then press the DELETE button on the Keyboard.
Then click on YES. Then OK and OK.

B. Close third party software in the task list and try again.

To close background Windows 95/98/ME

Hold down the Control (CTRL and the ALT key together. Now while holding these press once (and once only) the DELETE key. This will open a window called 'Close Program'. It is a list of everything presently running on the PC. To close a program you must Highlight it and click on 'End Task' at the bottom. This will only close that program so you must continue this process until all that is left running is : AOL , AOL TRAY , SYSTRAY , EXPLORER Note* Please allow several seconds between each CTRL + ALT + Delete to prevent the computer from restarting.

To Close background programs on Windows 2000

Hold down the Control (CTRL and the ALT key together. Now while holding these press once (and once only) the DELETE key. This will open a window called Windows Security. From here click on the Task Manager button and then click on the Appplications section.Here you will have a list of every application running on your PC. Click on on an application to highlight it and then click on End Task. Task Manager will stay open so you don't need to keep pressing CTRL + ALT + Delete. Once the Applications list is blank close the Windows Task Manager by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.

Click on the Applications section.Here you will have a list of every application running on your PC. Click on on an application to highlight it and then click on End Task. Once the Applications list is blank close the Windows Task Manager by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.

C.Repair AOL Connectivity Service
Windows 95/98/ME: Start --> Settings --> Control Panel
Windows 2000/XP: Start -->? Control Panel
Open Add/Remove Programs
Highlight AOL Connectivity Service
Click add/remove button
Choose repair option
Close Add/Remove Programs

C.Firewall

If you are using a Firewall it may be set too high. You may be so secure that the Firewall is also preventing you from getting on the web at all.
The simple solution to this is to temporarily remove your Firewall Software and retry AOL. If you find that the problem has been fixed, simply reinstall the Firewall Software and slightly lower the security settings on the Firewall. For more information, please visit keyword firewall.
