AOL DIAL.EXE - BAD IMAGE this dialog box opens on desktop when i switch on, message inside is as follows:
The application or DLL C:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\ACS\xpat.dll is not a valid windows image. PLease check this against your installation diskette.
Can anyone tell me if this is harmful or not,I tried AOL help which did'nt.

I would be tempted to look in my start up configuration and disable this thing.

Go to START click on RUN, type msconfig then when the new window opens click on STARTUP tab.

See what happens then.

I unchecked AOL Dial in the strat up list but on restarting had a message about changing the way windows starts and to go back to normal start mode

"I unchecked AOL Dial in the strat up list but on restarting had a message about changing the way windows starts and to go back to normal start mode"

Just tick the box and you won't see the message again (until you alter something in MSconfig anyway).
