AOL 9 and VPN

I want to log onto my work servers via my laptop, using a connection via ethernet socket in my desktop via AOL 9 Broadband (BT Voyager 100 modem). AOL tell me they do not support VPN and gave me some twaddle about the dynamic tp address being the issue. I checked with CISCO (Cisco VPN via IRAS)and they said this was not an issue, and it could work with AOL - if set up properly. My laptop clearcly connects with the network at work, but the VPN fails to "get a secure configuration" - any ideas appreciated

Try not starting AOL (disable in msconfig if necessary).

My VPN (SonicWall) will not allow me to connect to external content if the connection to my home server is connected.
