I have a lady in my IT group eager to learn more, who is very adept at using her laptop on the program[s] she knows best and that's it- and wants to progress.
As she is an accountant she is well up on SAGE.
I am not.
So in advising her on this and that I realized that in fact the SAGE program is installed many times on her machine, one for every upgrade/improvement.
I suggested she removes all earlier versions and works with the current one.
Oh no she said each program works with its own files and wont pick up earlier ones-
Is this So is she correct?

To my understanding of Sage, your colleague is correct.

Thank you both
that's enough info for me.
There is so much to know in this computery lark that I tending now to rein in a bit.
If I don't need to use it I wont load it.

Thinking about the one of many things I don't know [To quote d.rummsfeld esq.]
Could be a security device I guess that files created on a version and perhaps even embedded into a particular computer can only be accessed there.
to stop nerdowells nicking valuable data
Could I be right [for once?]
