Hi all, its been a good year since i've been on here but i've got a big prob!

Basically my internet is not responding, i think due to some socket problem. I have tried the following.....

1) contacting My ISP twice and running over various basic run commands, also obviously checking cables/ reset etc etc.

2) If tried resting the WinSock (correct me if i'm wrong) again through run commands.

3) System restored twice to earlier points.

4) Repaired windows fully (without losing files or folders)

I'm pretty sure its not the modem as all lights, are ok and i'm getting a 169. IP which they tell me means the two are not communicating.

Does anyone have any other ideas before I have to go and re-install windows from scratch? I have backed up, and this looks like the only way?

Ps i'm at work hence the ability to use the net! lol

Restoring Windows from scratch is a last resort!!

Try everything else first, also Google the error messages and see what comes up.

Good luck!

thing is I'm not getting an error, just "internet cannot display the web page...."

I have this underlying feeling that its the old, tick this box, 2 second problem...i just cant figure out where the problem is!

Can you save it on a pen drive or CD?

Check the connection properties and make sure TCP/IP is ticked.
