Anti Virus with BT Hub

My neice has a computer with AVG installed. She is shortly to change to BT with their hub. I feel sure I've read somewhere that the BT hub comes with its own anti-virus.

Can anyone please advise (a) does the BT hub come with its own anti-virus (b) is it any good (c) If it does come with Anti-virus - do I uninstall AVG for neice. or (d) uninstall the BT anti-virus?

Looking forward to your advice.

No, there is no Anti-virus with the BT Hub. Keep AVG.

Many thanks Technotiger.

PS - You will have been confusing Firewall with Anti-Virus. The BT Hub does have what is known as a Hardware Firewall, which is much better than XP's own Firewall. Not necessary, but it is ok to have a Software Firewall as well.

If your niece is a new BT customer then she will get a CD with the Home Hub that will offer to install all sorts of software (most of it is not essential), one of the options will be a version of McAfee (used to be Norton).

It is up to you whether you install it. I use Avast antivirus and Kerio Firewall with mine.
