At seemling random times the speakers give of a high pitched shreak which is quite anoying. It isnt a hardware problem as the speakers work perfectly on my other PC. Ive run Spybot S&D and Microsoft Anti-Spy which find nothing and the noise persists. Im running XP Home SP2 please help!

Are you using a Microphone on this system.
It sounds like 'feedback' from some source

Try muting or turn down the 'line in' on your volume control.

Yes YK I can hear you maniacal kackle from here

Muting the line in is a good idea orviding it is not in use of course.

I dont have a mic and i muted the line in volume anyway and the sound still persists. Im thinking it could be a virus or peice of spyware i can't detect thanks for trying though.

Find it's controls and turn it off.

Mine is a hole, the size of a pinprick. on the top right hand of the screen.

Place "all" the Speakers behind the PC.
