System is AMD 1.2 self build lots of hand me down bits with XP pro as op system. Auto reboot is switched off via CP. carried out scandisk for bad sectors, defrag ...u name it i have checked it ! pc works fine and no fan or heat problems obvious but the problem is this....

in normal mode when scanning for spyware/adware using adaware, spybot and a few others i have tried over the last few days the pc reboots when it appears part of the registry is being scanned (hard to see what’s being looked at). tried in safe mode and pc reboots at same steps unless adaware is used in custom scan mode (each step down 1 at a time with the checkboxes set individually). have run virus checks, nothing found. all programs up to date. machine is stable in all other uses.....vvvvvvvv strange ! suspect a nasty there some where but what ????

no restore point available so its up to some good advice form the 'floor' please
