I have two computers directly networked together using crossover cable, if I was to buy a switch or router would I need to get straight through cable or will the crossover do? and if not can I get a connecter to change the crossover to straight through?

You would need to use straight cable. You can no doubt buy a converter for cross over cable, but its likely to be chepaer to buy a new cable. They aren' that expensive.

Thanks Sir Radfordin™ I not long ago paid £15 for a length of crossover so I will see about getting a converter hopefully it will be cheaper than getting a new length of cable.
