Annoying malware, please help!

I've been beating my head against the wall over this maddening thing that my computer does. It opens an iexplore.exe process, sometimes more than once, but it's not shown on the bar, nor does it open a window. What it does do is steal focus from whatever I'm running at the time. I've installed a process logger to see what happens, but no additional programs seem to be running to cause this. I've run adware scans with AVG, Spybot S&D and a virus scan with Symantec AntiVirus 9.0.2 with the latest definition files. All those come out clean. Is there some particular malware that has these symptoms? How would I get rid of this anonoying thing?

Try SAS Superantispyware,

Free version/ click here

Try doing the full scan in safe mode,

Reboot into SAFE MODE

1/Click Start and then click Turn Off Computer.
2/In the Turn Off Windows dialog box, click Restart, and then click OK.
3/As your computer restarts but before Windows launches, press F8 repeatedly.
4/Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
5/If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot system, choose the installation that you need to access using the arrow keys, and then press ENTER.
Note: If Windows launches before you can choose a safe mode, restart your computer and try again
PS/ Sometimes it maybe the F5 key
