I have upgraded to windows 7 professional and was wondering what PCA members would recomend in the way of security. On XP I used AVG free, spy bot and super maleware(I think).

Thanks
James

I have used AVG for many years - the paid for version (Full Internet Security Suite) It is personal choice for me. Many like AVG - many Don't saying that it slows things down. I don't find that and I am on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

The latest thing seems to be MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) click here together with Windows Firewall. I haven't used it so I can't comment on it (MSE) but it appears to be liked by many who answer queries on here saying that it runs quietly in the background.

Those that do use it will no doubt add their comments for you.

Keep using the same latest AVG free works just fine, it even did on the Beta version

I would go for any free anti-virus and 1 pay for Anti-Malware program.
There is no anti-virus or security suite that will stop all Virus's or Trojan's.
A pay for Anti-Malware program gives you full time protection and should stop any Nasties from downloading on to your computer when browsing.
I have used MSE and had no problems with it.
I removed it because all the updates for it went through Windows Update and cannot be removed.
Apart from that I was quite happy with it.
If it was Malwarebytes or Superantispyware that you have maybe think of paying for the full version.
As far as I know you can get either for a one off payment so that you have nothing more to pay in the future.
Whatever you choose the best of luck.

Silly me! BTW I have found that SAS frequently finds adaware tracking cookies that Malawarebytes misses. I would have and scan with both.
