amr file only plays for 16 seconds

I have a sony ericsson k790i phone, from which i record speech from teleconferences during my work.
The problem is, when i play back the speech on my phone, i can listen to the file in its entirety, in this case it was over one hour in duration.

Now, when i put the memory stick from the phone (M2)into an adaptor for my pc, the amr file only plays the first 16 seconds of this recording in real player, and i noticed all the other recorded files i have only seem to play a very short period of the file.

I tried using the stick in my laptop and it is the same, the file size recorded is around 6.5 Mbytes and only plays the first 16 seconds, so how does it play the entire recording on my phone OK.

Is there a way of getting the entire recording to work as it should on the pc?

I found that using a converter program like 'switch' i converted it to 'wma' the fils would play in there entirety, it would seem that real player has a problem playing 'amr' files, even though it would play for a short period.
