AMD Sempron CPU Check

  saxman 18:19 11 Jun 05

I purchased an AMD Sempron 2600 cpu with an Asrock K7 Upgrade mainboard, running at 333 FSB. My Windows XP O/S tells me that I have an AMD Athlon(tm)XP 1700+ running at 1.47GHz. Is there a program that can check my system setup? and if the above is true is the actual cpu purchased better or worse than the one I should have had?

Your sempron 2600+ should run at 1.83Ghz.If it is running at 1.47Ghz, you are using the wrong fsb setting.

Change the fsb in the bios from 133Mhs ( giving you 1.47) to 166Mhz ( 1.83Ghz)

Is this your board? click here

If so, you will have to alter the jumpers on the motherboard to get a 166Mhz fsb( 333mhz).click here
