Using AMD 2.6, but comes up in the system summary as x86 Family 6 Model 8 stepping 1 AuthenticAMD ~1250 Mhz.

SMBIOS Version 2.3

OS XP HE
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 1 Build 2600

BIOS Versio/Date American Megatrends Inc. Version 07.00T,02/04/2001

Used to boot up really quickly with XP2600, latency 3, now boots up with AMD 1250 MHz latency 2.5.

I've taken the battery out of the CPU to restart from scratch.

What have I done wrong, can anybody help?

Go into bios and change setting from 100 to 133 for the cpu

  Rayuk 19:27 27 Mar 03

That is if its the 266fsb model if it is the 333fsb model change it to 166.
What motherboard do you have??

  tinkers 08:42 28 Mar 03

The motherboard is an ATX KT400.

  Rayuk 17:28 28 Mar 03

Your setting at the moment is 12.5 x 100 the 2600+333fsb is 12.5 x 166=2075
Have you the manufacturer and exact model no of the motherboard?

  tinkers 19:09 28 Mar 03

To Rayuk,

I haven't got the info for the motherboard, how do I find it?

Also, when I start up and press delete to get into the settings menu, it won't let me change the clock speed from 100.

Is there another way?

Click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/SystemTools/SystemInformation
Look for System Manufacturer and model[which should be just beneath it]

  tinkers 18:50 29 Mar 03

Ok,Here it is

System manufacturer = Time Computers
System Model = MS-6712
System Type = x86-based PC

  Rayuk 19:34 29 Mar 03

Enter the bios and go to
Frequency/Voltage control
Change cpu fsb to 166
Pressescape back to main bios page then F10 to Exit & Save Settings

It may be worth reading this before you increase the fsb to 166.

This clearly states that the xp2600 should run at 133fsb with the multiplier at 16.

Only the thoroughbred 2800+ and the barton chips are to be run at 166fsb.

As the village idiot says try altering the setting to 133 first.
