AMD K6, 500 thinks its 150?

I have an old PC,Super7 GA-5AX mobo, with an AMD K6 cpu, 500. I just disconnected it, moved it to another room & reconnected it. Now it says it only has a 150 cpu!!! I tried restoring to yesterday, when it knew it was 500, but it still insists its 150!!! Its been running-or walking- OK on XP for ages. Anyone any ideas why it should do this?( Iwas going to give it to a mate for his kid- perhaps its upset to be leaving?)Thanks, Al.

You need to go into the BIOS screen (hit Delete a few times when powering the system up, or watch for text telling you if it's another key) and look for CPU clock speed/multiplier controls - it just needs resetting back to 500mhz. Usually 100mhz at 5x multiplier
