Could anybody please explain the difference between these cpu's

Xp Athlon 3200+ BART

Athlon 64 3200+ Soc754

Athlon 64 3200+ Soc939

Thanks

basically, they use different connectors

Barton: Socket A: 462 (?) pins

Socket 754: 754 pins

Socket 939: 939 pins

performace wise, very similar

if you want "future"-proof, go for 939pins

Thanks for the quick answer, I appricate that they are differnt sockets, it is really the performance factor that I wanted to know.

the 64 bit should outperform the barton - the 939 socket will take the latest winchester chip which should run cooler than others - there will not be a lot in it but I have read the 64 bit performs better than the barton for gaming.

you will be more futureproofed with the 939 socket motherboard
