Is it an AMD 64bit 2800
or a 32 bit Athlon XP processor

Defo an AMD 2800

Just looked up the AMD 64bit 2800 and it is only available on a socket 754 platform, which does not leave much scope for future upgrades.
If you want to futureproff it (as much as can be done) go for Socket 939.

Cheers mate, which processor relates to Socket 939?

Socket 939 CPUs sorted by ascending prices click here (ignore the first entry).

Make sure the motherboard is a socket 939 too click here - sorted by ascending prices again. G

Oh, I forgot to add I have a AMD Athlon XP 2800+ (32-bit, as against the better 64-bit which is also available) & it does all I ask of it - which isn't much really. All depends what you're using the PC for - and your budget. G

"Make sure the motherboard is a socket 939 too..." - only applies if your building the system yourself. G
