Alternative to Webroot Spysweeper

  JaßîsFaß ˜ 00:16 26 Nov 04

I seem to have lost the Spysweeper software I had installed (or at least don't have a product code to reload the copy I was using). Can anyone recommend a good free download alternative?

Is everyone else of the same view about Lavasofts?
Is this free version as good protection as other products you have to buy?

Lavasoft's Adaware is very good click here for recent test results.

As well as AdAware, many suggest using SpyBot S&D also. The two together will do a good job.

Cheers for additional advice, I already have Spybot-S&D and CW Shredder, and now considering trying the Lavasoft Adaware to replace my Spysweeper. Don't believe I have any current infections to worry about.

This click here compliments S&D.

I've just done a first scan with Adaware SE but am a bit confused why it is reporting on it's scan 49 objects (of MRU lists type - negligible)? Do I have to tell it to ignore these. They all seem to be about shortcuts or lists of recently used files and programs.

You can ignore these.

The next time you scan, untick "Search for negligible risk entries".
