Alter the boot.ini file in XP for RAM upgrade?

I upgraded my xp pc a couple of years ago by doubling the ram to 4 gb.

Today an I.T. guy at work said that unless I had altered the boot.ini file (in some way) xp would not recognise the upgrade.

Anyone know what he's on about please?

Never heard of that and I can't see its relevance in the boot.ini file anyway.

System Properties or Task Manager (Performance tab) will show the RAM XP is recognising.
XP is unlikely to use 4GB RAM due to memory limitations.

XP home by the way and if if I recall it was loads faster after I installed the extra 2gb.

I upgraded from 2gb to 3gb (not 4gb) ram.

this is the only relevance i know between boot.ini and memory but this will have nothing to do with the setup of your system...
