Hi,I am interested in purchasing a cheap Agp card 4x/8x for my old pc with ECS-ELITE K75sa mobo. The ones I looking at are as follows, Sapphire Ati ,9250/9550 128-256 mb of memory for use with windows 98se/Me. Can anyone help or advise on which one to get or otherwise.

I have an 256MB ATi Radeon 9550 graphics card - it's perfectly adequate for normal all round use, although of limited use for games.

Depends on what you call cheap. You can pick up a nice card like an ATI 9800pro 128MB 2nd hand for around £35/40. This is what I run in my back up PC and it's a decent enough card.

I used to use a Radeon 9550 (128mb) coupled with an Athlon 64 3200 about two years ago and it was perfectly good for everyday use - I recall it ran Doom 3 at 800x600 res with max detail settings at acceptable framerates if that helps.

An overlooked AGP card that can be obtained for between £40-£60 (depends where you look) is the ATI Radeon X1300pro (256mb). Hardcore gamers hate this card, but I can assure you that this card can breathe new life into an old PC. The only problem I can see for you is that it may not run on the older o/s that you use.

I have a 3rd backup PC (PIII 933) that still uses a GeForce2 32mb AGP card!!! Still, I love how stable good old Windows 98 runs on it!!

Try click here - They stock a ride range of old tech AGP cards that will be just the ticket for what you are looking for.

Hope this helps.
