After Windows XP installation PC wont shut down

  vaughan007 14:50 17 Oct 03

Hello everyone,

I have just installed Windows XP (it did have WIndows 98) on a PC.

The installation went perfectly well.

Everything seems to work fine.

However, when I try to turn shut the PC down the saving your settings screen appears, then it comes up with it is now safe to turn off your computer...and then just stays like that until I turn the PC off.

Before the installation of XP the PC would turn itself off at this point. So how can I get it to do this again?

Thanks you very much for your anticipated help.
