Advice on Spybot/ZoneAlarm

My friend has been having a lot of porn popups while using the internet. This started when her son downloaded kazaa. She also had the Yaha virus which Norton anti virus dealt with. I told her to get rid of kazaa, which she has but porn popups still occur. Her son swears he has not visited any porn sites.

I suggested she get Spybot and ZoneAlarm for extra safety, and to get rid of any spyware/trojans that might be on her system.

Which one should she install first and are these compatible? Using ME, IE and a dial up connection on her computer.

Thanks for any help on this!

Certainly something to remove spyware - spybot or AdAware when the new version is out - as well as a clear out of the temp files and cookies.

Any good firewall - my preference is for sygate personal firewall (v.5) - and a popup stopper. Or use Mozilla - built in popup stopper.

click here and do a search for how to completely uninstall kazaa. At worse, a full reinstall of ME may be necessary.

Thanks Lú-tzé for your quick response.

We will try your second suggestion first and then clear out temp files and cookies.

Then we will try spybot to get rid of any left overs and then sygate for added protection.

Thanks for your help its very much appreciated.

Lú-tzé

Thanks for the extra info, I did not realise kazaa was that bad.

I wonder what else she will find left over from kazaa? Well that's another story.

Thanks again for everything
