Advice on a router to connect single PC to BB

btinternet provided alcatel speedtouch modem that seems incapable of keeping a connection. I have heard it suggested that this happens because the modem requires @ the maximum voltage through a USB1. On most days it drops after a few minutes, sometimes giving a spurious no dialtone error. After many hours on the phone to BT, loads of power management etc adjustments & restarts, 4 different filters and an aborted driver(?) update for my ASUS motherboard, the last BTtechie advised me to forget the modem, fit a network card and use a router. Should I? Any recommendations? How do I fit a network card?

BT voyager adsl wireless router with adapter, then you can have one or ten PC's connected, and it will take you about 5 minutes to set up.. works a dream..

I had the same problems, turns out that someone had used some burgular alarm wire instead of telephone wire. Once this was changed all was OK
