Advice regarding internet explorer settings please

My friend is running windows xp and has a dial up connection configured to connect to the internet.

He conects by clicking on the desktop shortcut and then clicking on dial and then the pc connects to the internet ok as the icons are doing their thing in the system tray.

To browse the internet he then has to open an internet explorer window by clicking that shortcut.

He wants to simplify this by just clicking on the internet explorer icon and then the pc should dial out, connect and display his home page.

Is there an easy way to do this as I can't think straight at the moment, and I'm sure that it is probably as simple as changing his dial up settings to dial automaticly or something.

Never done it but you should go to internet settings > connections > and check the "always dial my default connection " is ticked/marked. Try it and see but I don't know if it will work or not.

that sounds about right - I'll get to try it over the weekend and post back.

Any other suggestions or confirmation of this solution would be most welcome.
