Advice re installing software on Netbook

Hi Folks,

My daughetr is getting a Netbook for Xmas, but how do I install software on it.

The Netbook is to help with her school work and I would like another option apart from the internet.

If I buy an educational title, how can I transfer the data from disc to the Netbook.

Many thanks.

Easiest thing to do is an external drive - some examples click here

You could use another computer to transfer the entire disc contents onto a usb storage device, and then run the setup file when its plugged into the netbook. Another way would be to put the disc into another pc, then share that computers dvd/cd drive over the network. It would then easily be accessed on the netbook and could be used by it.

If you've never used network sharing, then i'd suggest the usb device, although the sharing option is straightforward.

Or, buy a usb disc drive from ebay, and then just plug it into the netbook.

Thanks for all your responses, think I will go with the USB option.

Can I just clarify. How do I transfer disc contents is it just a matter of copy and paste when I explore the disc drive? What about the protection side of the software, thanks.
