Advice pls - Non-email messages across a network

Hi,

I hope that somebody can help.

I am looking for a solution to the following.

We have an NT network of 60 users. Not everybody has email as it is not required and it will be expensive to provide this and pretty unnecessary. Everyone however has Internet Explorer.

I want to be able to create and send simple messages from my desktop to groups of users on my network. Files do not need to be attached.

Ideally, when a message is available, an icon should flash in the task bar alerting the end user. It is important that the message does not simply appear suddenly on screen.

Multiple messages should be held as "unread" until viewed.

It is also important that when logging on, any unread messages are available.

Any suggestions, recomendations?

Many thanks,

Steve

Unless you give e-mail, it sounds like the best option would be a bulitin board like this one where each message would appear as a link and the link changes colour once clicked. Not sure how you would get the notification of new messages though.
