if I get on of these can i
1]partition theeternal hdd in xp computer management as normal.
2] use it with norton "ghost" and norton "save&restore" to keep a clone of my desktop on one partition then plug it into the lap top and ghost the laptop to another partition.
3] can i use it to copyfiles from one pc then plug into a laptop and copy the files to the laptop.

not used an external hdd before are all 3 of the above possible, any advice please.

1] yes.

2] maybe, but I think I have read that on boot only the first partition of an external drive is visable. However, if the drive is large enough there is no problem in putting both ghost images of your pc and your laptop in the same partition. Just make sure to label the images in an identifiable way.

Hope this helps.
