This is the situation, I have always had a router with a wired connection for my desktop and laptop, but after having an extension built I know want to use my laptop in the new extension.
For this I need a wireless router, any suggestions as to a reliable one, and how easy is it to set it up and to make sure no one else can piggy back my connection.

There is no need to change your present router to a wireless one

Wireless connection can be a real pain if you have limited experience in wireless set up and

wireless security

Look at the NETGEAR Wall-Plugged Wireless Range Extender Kit

Which will allow you wireless access in the extension building, but would be hard wire back to

the router
