Advice on HP Laserjet 4100N toner usage required

I am trying to establish the cost of toner (per page) when printing via a HP Laserjet 4100N. I have 2 examples of screen prints (one contains only a small amount of print coverage, but the other includes a large amount of formatting/ background shading. I am basically trying to establish the percentage of coverage per page and how much toner is used (and the cost) to produce each type of screen print. Can anyone advise me where I could obtain this type of information? The only info I have at the moment is something I read in PC Advisor in 2001 - i.e. the cost of printing per page at 5% coverage (excluding paper) is 1.3 pence.

Who prints pages with only 5% coverage? Epson quote 6,000 pages for the EPL5900 cartridges. In real life I get just over 3,000. So 2p per page is probably about right for your HP printer.

One tip to gauge toner use if you have digital postal scale: weigh the empty cartridge when you change it for a new one. Print 100 pages and weigh it again.
