Advice on fitting extra memory please

I've just visited the Crucial site and it informs me that I can fit 2 x 1024 sticks on top of my current 2 x 512 sticks.

I've looked inside the box and there are four memory slots with the first two being occupied with the 2 existing 512s.

Can I just load the two new ones in the existing vacant slots or do I need to put the two new ones in the first two slots?

I know that they have to be in pairs but just wondered if it mattered which order.

I have a Compaq PC running XP.

If you have dual channel memory controller then your motherboard manual will tell you which slots to use, but generally speaking just insert the new ones in the available slots and they should work OK

The Crucial scan tells me that my PC supports dual channel memory so I guess I just plug the new pair in to the existing slots?
