Advent 7011 Laptop On/Off button

I have an old Advent 7011 Laptop and the on/off button has fallen inside. Does anyone know how to get into this machine. I have taken the screws out of the bottom but am unable to get the top away from the bottom so I can get inside to try and fix the problem.

I think that the button must have some sort of spring too, which is inside and might short something out.

I have remove the keyboard and the CR-ROM drive plus hard disk but still cannot access the top left section where the button is.

I can use a pen to turn the laptop on and off but I would at least like to get the bits out if I am unable to fix.

Anyone any ideas?

At the rear of the laptop, not the bottom, the rear there a normally a few screws. Undo them and the screen will come off, and possibly the base, if not there might be other screws after it's off.

Be careful of the monitor ribbon though!

Most likely way that it works, is that the button that as fallen inside is only a plastic cover the true button is under it. the spring will be in the true button switch
