Hi, I had my adsl changed from a usb modem to wireless with a dlink router a few months ago.It has been fine but in the past few days our internet connection has kept going off. By shutting everything ie pc and router down and switching plugs off then restarting it comes back on any ideas? Is it the router or pc or network card?

It could be BT upgrading the exchange.

Agree with Graham. If you live within an area that is on the BT 8meg upgrade list then that could be the issue.

Check your ADSL at the link below. If you use Firefox you will need to download a Java Plugin. If you use IE you will need to set Security to Medium, which given the IE issues is a bit risky so don't forget to change it back to High.

Instead of switching everything OFF, just disconnect the Router. Leave it OFF for 10 minutes and then try again and see if things have improved.

Check on your Router website for a Firmware upgrade. It may be a known issue that has been fixed.

Also check the running Processes (Task Manager > Processes) something may be hogging all the bandwidth. (e.g. AV, Firewall, SpyWare Scanner)
