ADSL Router difficulty with updating

I am running XP home edition SP2 on a new Dell 5000. I have recently installed this machine.
I moved my ADSL router to this machine and it does everything it supposed to. My problem is I cannot get into the configuration file. Instructions say enter click here in the web browser and a user name and password dialog will come up...it does not...I just get a page not found msg. I can ping and tracert the address no problem..

any ideas..?

Omit the http//: and just enter 10.0.0.2

Hi Grahamp,

Thanks for your suggestion..I'm afraid that when I entered it...it simply went off to search the internet for 10.0.0.2...

I've run IPconfig and it shows the LAN address to be 10.0.0.2 ..but it still says page cannot be displayed.

I think something must be stopping me accessing it..I'll have another look..

Hi billbod,

Thanks for the tip...I have now done this but still the same.....

Found a peice of software which scans the ip addresses called Superscan..

It showed I had another address level to add to 10.0.0.2..once you know what it is you simply use http:\\10.0.0.2:'the other address' number...can be between 2 and 65532 apparently..

anyway problem fixed
