ADSL Ethernet router question

BT are converting my line for ADSL tomorrow. Today I plugged in the ethernet adsl router I have and connected it to the splitter. The router obviously indicates that the line isn't yet ready for adsl however when it's all plugged in my phoneline doesn't work. When I take the phone cable out of the splitter the telephone works fine again. Is this normal, and will it all work when BT have done their thing at the exchange?

Sounds like you may have a faulty filter (splitter) Get it changed or better still, filter all your extensions from the master socket buy buying a ADSL linebox adaptor from the superb Clarity: click here

Have fun with the ADSL ;-)

SOrry - being stupid. I only went and plugged the phone line into the ethernet port. All's fine now and to their eternal credit BT have actually activated it a day early! All I need now is my new laptop (arriving this morning) and I'll be up and running. Thanks,

James
