Adobe reader 9 not being seen although loaded

When I click on a link to read a pdf file on a Celebrity Cruise web site, the message comes up that my version is v4 and it needs v8 or 9 to read it. This is installed on my computer. but a window comes up to update from version 4 which is nowhere to be found on my computer, in order that I can delete it.
Is there anyway that I can find and delete v4?

I won't pretend that I can help you with your specific program but I can say that, on advice from a friend, I am using FOXIT as a PDF reader and it works a treat-- like Adobe reader it is free.

As above Foxit is better. Before Loading it Go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs and have a look how much space Adobe Reader uses. then check the size of Foxit. I have removed Reader from my laptop
