Adobe photoshop Elements and Internet Explore 7

Problem: Photoshop gets slower and slower and then closes
Solution offered by Adobe: uninstall IE7.OK!

I found Microsoft instructions which tell me how to return to IE6 by going to 'Add Remove Programmes' etc. However when I scroll down the list to find Internet Explorer 7 to click "Change/Remove" I can't because on my computer screen I only see the Remove option!
My questions are: Do I download and save IE6 to my PC then uninstall IE7 before I reinstall IE6? and how can I do it without losing all my settings, saved emails etc. etc.
Can anyone help please? I am not an absolute beginner but neither am I a techie!!

ok, thanks. I will try it. I use Outlook Express. Do you know if any settings for that will be lost when I remove IE7? I really don't understand how it all works!!!
