Hi, I'm having problems starting up the thread title programme.

I am met with the message 'Adobe Photoshop Elements has encountered a problem and needs to close.

Error code c0000005

Address 6975515c.

Obviously i haven't a foggiest what this means so any nudge in the right direction would be most appreciated.

I am running XP SP2.

I have made a few system restores since this programme was last used & have installed AVG8 & SUPERantispyware. I don't know if that is significant.

Thanks in advance.

I have tried Uninstall/Reinstall but am met with the same message.

J B where would i locate the file on the link you posted?
Is it as simple as opening the C: drive & then looking for the status.dat file?

Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\4.0\Organizer\ and you should see it there. User name is the name you log on with.

You will have to enable "View Hidden files and Folders" in Explorer.
