Adobe flash and shockwave player doesn,t work

  Morty10 20:32 28 Jul 06

I have the following files installed for Adobe Flash and Shockwave Player
1. Program file Adobe Flash Player 9 Active X
2. Add on in IE 6 - Shockwave Flash Object Active X Control Flash9.ocx
3. Flash9.0cx C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
However the flash and shockwave players do not work.
When I go to a flash site all i see is a blank space where the flash content should appear. In this space is a small box with an X inside. When I left click a notation "click to activate and use this control" No control appears. When I right click a dialogue box About Adobe Flash Player 9 appears.
The downloads of the player seemed to go OK
I have an internet security suite softwear on my computer.
I have unchecked Sun Java & Microsoft VM in IE6.
Do I have to try to uninstall and reinstall?
Or other suggestions.

You may need to associate flash player9 with Internet explorer. Look for SWF files in control panel/folder options/file types and see if they are linked to IE.
