Administrator rights on new computer

I have a brand new Toshiba laptop running XP Home. I downloaded scanner drivers to the CD “D” drive. When I subsequently tried to download AdAware, SpyBot and RegSeeker I was denied access to save to “D” drive. I was told to contact the Administrator to get authority to change the settings. Also on looking at the properties of the CD it is shown as full even though the driver download was only 2.9 MB. What has happened and how do I get round it?

Are you using a formatted rewritable cd with a packet handling program such as Nero InCd?.

Appaently, accordig to a computer literate friend it was the disc "attributes"? It was ticked as archive, unticked and access is there. Hope this makes sense.
