Additional external hard drive

  Billawa 19:30 01 Oct 04

I have a laptop with integral hard drive and CD reader/burner. I would like to add another hard drive connected by USB. As the internal HD is the Master and the CD burner is the slave how do I get the computer to recognise the additional drive. I am using Windows XP Home updated by SP2.
Any help/comments would be welcome.

Just plug it in and XP will recognize a removeable drive with an icon in system tray.

Yep agree I got a Western Digital external USB 2 drive. Just plug n play on XP no drivers needed.

Thanks to all who replied. External DVD working. However, the hard drive is not registering in My Computer but the system information shows it as being present. Any ideas?
